The City of Vadnais Heights is
a vibrant community with strong neighborhoods, thriving businesses,
and beautiful woods, lakes, and wetlands.
Called “home� by about 13,500 people,
Vadnais Heights is located in northeast Ramsey County. The City covers
8.5 square miles. Our neighbors are White Bear Lake, White Bear Township,
Little Canada, North Oaks, Shoreview, Maplewood, and Gem Lake.
Vadnais Heights is an active community.
In fact, 60 percent of our residents are involved in the annual celebrations
of Heritage Days and Taste of Vadnais, according to a survey conducted
by Decision Resources, Ltd. This is the highest rate of participation
of any community in the seven county Twin Cities area.
The survey also confirmed what we had
hoped – people are very pleased with their lives in Vadnais Heights.
Decision Resources reports that 96 percent of residents rank the quality
of life in Vadnais Heights as either “excellent� or “good.�
A hallmark of our City is Vadnais-Sucker
Lake Regional Park. This scenic and recreational jewel boasts 1,200
acres of woods and lakes. In addition, Vadnais Heights has more than
100 acres of active parkland. The natural habitat gives the City a unique
charm and a bit of a rural setting.
We have a wide range of housing, including executive housing, starter
homes, and an assortment of attached residences.
Vadnais Heights’ commercial tax base
is solid. Our industrial sector includes Reel Precision Manufacturing,
Vadnais Technologies, IC System, Medical Graphics, Dynamic Air, GML,
and the corporate headquarters for H.B. Fuller, SEH, and Festival Foods.

Schools:
The majority of Vadnais Heights students
attend classes in the White Bear Lake School District. There is
a small portion of the city that attends classes in district 621, Mounds
View Public Schools.
White Bear Lake
Area Schools
The White Bear Lake Area Schools serve
all or parts of Birchwood, Gem Lake, Hugo, Little Canada, North Oaks,
Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and White Bear Township, with eight
elementary schools (K-5), two middle schools (6-8), a two-campus high
school (9-12), an Area Learning Center, and an education center housing
early childhood and senior programs. The school district, with a total
population of approximately 50,000 residents, services approximately
9,200 students K-12.
Elementaries focus on basic-skills
through innovative instruction, including a renowned mathematics curriculum.
Parents choose between traditional and alternative classroom settings.
A gifted program is offered for students demonstrating exceptional ability
in communications and mathematics. School-aged childcare is available
before and after school.
Middle schools take traditional studies
into challenging new areas through inter-disciplinary teaching teams,
providing a smooth transition from the elementary to high school classroom.
Advanced classes are offered in select disciplines.
The high school operates on a block
schedule, offering numerous opportunities to prepare students for post-secondary
plans. College in the Schools and Advanced Placement courses offer students
introductory-level college coursework.
The district offers many extra-curricular
activities, providing students opportunities to excel outside the classroom.
The district’s exceptional youth development program has gained both
state and national attention for its focus on student leadership and
community service.
A comprehensive special education department,
including a recognized autism program, supplements learning whenever
needed. The district also participates in a special education cooperative
district, which services students with special needs.
The district is committed to offering
curriculum and instruction rooted in best practice research and based
on current data. Staff development and teacher training remain top priorities
in the district to insure student success at all levels. The district's
Educational Foundation also supports instruction by proving grants for
innovative teaching projects and awarding numerous student scholarships.
The White Bear Lake Area Schools enjoy
the atmosphere of a close-knit community with the learning opportunities

Parks:
The City of Vadnais Heights
boasts more than 100 acres of active parkland spread across 14 parks.
Features include play equipment, trails, hard surface areas, picnic
shelters, soccer and softball/baseball fields, hockey and pleasure rinks,
basketball and tennis courts, and restrooms.
Vadnais-Sucker Lake Regional
Park is a prized recreational and scenic amenity. With 1,252 acres of
woods and lakes, the park hosts trails, picnic areas, and on-shore fishing.
Situated on land owned by St. Paul Regional Water Services, the park
is operated by Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of Vadnais
Heights.
A network of trails exists
in the City, and it is anticipated that the network will continue to
expand. So that the trails may be used year-round, City crews plow key
trails after two or more inches of snowfall during winter months.
