Almost 27,000 residents enjoy Shoreview’s natural-setting, quiet and safe neighborhoods and excellent employment opportunities.  The variety and quality of housing choices and close proximity to downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul makes Shoreview an easily accessible and desirable place to live.

Consistently ranking among the best places to live in the region, Shoreview also boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the region.  Shoreview students receive some of the highest ranked scores of any school districts in Minnesota – a true testimony to the exceptional educational opportunities available in our schools.

Shoreview is a financially sound city with a strong tax base and well-respected local business community.  The City of Shoreview holds an Aa2 bond rating, one of the highest ratings that can be achieved for a city of our size.  We have received numerous national honors for our fiscal management and long-range financial planning.

Parks:

For outdoor activities, there is no place better that Shoreview. The rich and wide-ranging natural environments provide serene backdrops for family picnics, biking, touring, walking, hiking and cross-country skiing. Shoreview was one of the three communities in the state to be recognized as a "Bicycle-Friendly Community".

Ten city parks span the Shoreview area with facilities for soccer, baseball and softball, football, skating, hockey, tennis and hard court areas. The City added one of the first in-line skate parks in the area which is a popular attraction at the Shoreview Commons. The most recent addition to our park system has been the opening of Rice Creek Fields a fabulous four-field complex primarily serving girls fast-pitch softball. The community benefits from a number of quality county parks including those found at Island Lake, Turtle Lake, Lake Owasso, and the Snail Lake Regional Park, with the later three having swimming beaches. Numerous picnic areas, playgrounds and shelters provide great places to relax and explore nature. Many of our 11 lakes promote fishing boating with public access. Golfing enthusiasts can enjoy the executive nine-hole course at Island Lake County Park.
